redemption in Christ

It was not a surprise to a sovereign, all knowing God that mankind would choose to live in rebellion against Him.  In fact, before the foundation of the world, He already had a plan to redeem people from their sin.  This plan was for His Son, Jesus Christ, to come to the earth as a man, live a perfect life, and bear the sin of all people on the cross.  That is exactly what happened.  Jesus rose from the dead three days after He was buried in a tomb that was sealed and protected by the Roman government.  He appeared to over 500 of his disciples. Essentially, Jesus did for us what we could never do for ourselves: He took away our sin by paying the penalty Himself

This is the difference between following Christ and any religion.  Religion is about people trying to make themselves look good to God, but following Christ is about turning from sin and accepting what He did for us on the cross:

relationship with God through Jesus

The first 3 chapters of the Bible show how God created the world and people and how we messed it up.  The rest of the Bible shows how God restores fellowship with people who are willing to accept salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.  Once we renounce control of our lives and submit ourselves to Jesus Christ by faith, we have a renewed connection with God.  God no longer sees our past and failures, but sees the perfection of Jesus.  At this point, we are able to allow God to guide us and direct us through life, teaching us to live life His way and showing us His purposes for us being here.  Following Jesus is not the end, but the beginning of an eternal, life-giving relationship with the Creator of the universe.

God’s global mission

This life changing good news of Jesus is not just for any one group of people, but is intended for all people groups.  God’s mission on earth is to complete the fulfillment of His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus is the one who started this, and He is the one who will complete it by means of His Spirit working in His Church.  The Church is not a mere institution, but are His people, the ones who love and serve Jesus Christ through faith.  The Church is not an organization that man created, but is founded by Jesus and will be used by Him to complete His global mission of redemption.   The worldwide scale and focus of Jesus’ mission shows God’s compassion, grace, and mercy for all people .
